Reverend John Hereford, vicar at St Mellitus Church, Hanwell, and his wife Janet very kindly gave Ealing Fairtrade Group space to hold a Fairtrade breakfast on Saturday 11th May.
We celebrated World Fair Trade Day in style with fairly traded tea, coffee, juice, cereals, jams, marmalade and spreads, accompanied by warmed croissants.
World Fair Trade Day is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of May and is endorsed by the World Fair Trade Association, the global authority on fair trade, comprised of 450 member organisations from 76 countries around the world. It is a worldwide festival of events celebrating Fair Trade as a tangible contribution to the fight against poverty, climate change and the economic crisis. See www.wfto.com for more information.
Greenford Library have also been taking part with the celebrations by doing a Fairtrade book display. You may be surprised to hear that Ealing libraries stock a wide range of Fairtrade books -see our Books list on our Links page.
On Friday May 17th-Saturday May 18th, a mystery play with music is being performed at St Mellitus church, ‘Who is this man? Finding Jesus today’. Tickets are £5 from any Hanwell church or on the door. Visit www.saintmellitushanwell.org.uk/Mystery.html to find out more about the play.
