This year’s Fairtrade Fortnight offers a chance to tackle two New Year’s resolutions at once: to get more exercise and to do more about Fairtrade. On the second Saturday of this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight (23 February – 8 March) we are planning a joint event with neighbouring boroughs Harrow, Brent, Hounslow and Richmond. Walks in each borough will converge on a 4pm meeting in Turnham Green which will include tea, Fairtrade films and Divine chocolate. The aims are to publicize Fairtrade and promote shops and organizations that support Fairtrade.
Our provisional plan for the Ealing part is to walk from Hanwell via West Ealing, Ealing Broadway and Acton before crossing the border into Hounslow and making our way to Turnham Green. We will pass shops, cafes, churches and schools that are selling, serving and using Fairtrade products.
We plan to carry placards and distribute leaflets promoting Fairtrade. We are inviting groups and individuals to join us and are hoping for some eye-catching placards to spread the word about Fairtrade. Those who do not want to walk the whole way can join us in Ealing Broadway or Acton and of course there are plenty of public transport options.
If you would like to join the walk or have suggestions of any kind, please e-mail Jackie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will publish more details here as our plans progress. Please also check for updates on Twitter: @EalingFairtrade
